The lovely Ivanna passed her driving test at lunchtime today with just a few tiny faults.

Ivanna and I only met 8th January 2026 when she then told me she had already booked her test for 23rd January!

Ivanna had previously taken 2 practical tests - the first in Bristol and second in Swansea, with most of her driver training being provided by her husband Yegor.

I had trained Yegor to drive back in 2020 before they moved to Bristol. I have to say he’d done a fantastic job of training observations amongst other things but there were a number of rough edges that we needed to fix to get Ivanna truly test ready.

After 10.5 hours of lessons in two weeks Ivanna went out there today and passed her test easily.

Partners and parents can do a wonderful job helping people learn to drive but in my opinion they can’t fully replace professional instruction.

Well done Ivanna, I look forward to seeing you again for some post test lessons increasing your confidence and familiarisation with the local area.
